A modern Hospital is not only a health organization but also it has much duty.
1. It decreases the chances of disease through prior detection and treatment.
2. It offers special facilities and trained staff to assist the work of the physician in his primary position for taking care of the patient.
3. It enhances the quality of care and general principles of medical practice.
4. It is a correlation among the policy creators and general community.
5. It can be used significantly for the clinical instructions and occasional demonstrations to the medical students.
6. It is a centre of community health and adds a great deal to precautionary and social medicine.
7. It motivates the growth of medical sciences by providing good advanced training to the doctors, nurses and other medical stuffs.
8. The whole trend is being integrated for the well being of general person as we can see that bigger hospital with smaller, Specialist with general and Public with private co-ordinate with each other.

Defination of Modern Hospital

The Hospital word actually came from the Latin term hospitium (Its a place where visitors are welcomed).
A hospital is defined as an organization or institution of community health which consists of modern scientific instrumentations, up to date laboratory facilities, experienced trained persons for the betterment of health of all the community.

Its function covers the whole range of medical care such as prevention of disease, treatment, diagnosis, research and development. Though its main aim is to serve the patient and maintain a good health.

The modern hospital has extra facilities like hotels, lodges, office and pharmacy of their own. Even nowadays the hospital acts as educational organization also.

Pharmacist oath


“I promise to do all I can to protect and improve the physical and moral well being of society holding the health and safety of my community above other considerations .I shall uphold the laws and standards governing my profession, avoiding all forms of misrepresentation and shall safeguard the distribution of medical and potent substance .Knowledge gained about patients, I shall hold in confidence and never divulge unless compelled to do so by law. I shall strive to perfect and enlarge my knowledge to contribute to the advancement of pharmacy and the public health. I furthermore promise to maintain my honor in all transactions and by my conduct never bring discredit to myself or to my profession not to do anything to diminish the trust reposed in my professional brethren. May I prosper and live long in favor as I keep and hold to this, my oath, but if I violate these sacred promises, may the reverse by my lot.”
